To
whom it may concern,
As per the UAE Labour Law religious
discrimination \ racism is not
allowed.
During the holy month of Ramadan the
working hours to be shorter by two
hours for all employees regardless
of their religion, while Emirates
Airlines forces their UAE based
non-Muslim employees to work the
normal working hours without even
paying them overtime for the extra
two hours that they are forced to
work.
The
UAE Ministry of Labour prohibits all
companies to force their non-Muslim
employees to work for extra hours
and any
company found violating this
directive will be penalised as per
the Labour Law (as shown below in
the 1st attachment), but since
Emirates Airlines is a semi
government organization the Ministry
of Labour does not check or
penalizes them.
An official e-mail is sent to all
Emirates Airlines Worldwide
employees (as shown below in the 2nd
e-mail attachment) that only Muslim
staff can leave early and the rest
are forced to work. On the other
hand non-Muslims are not given
holidays on their religious
celebration.
This is day light religious
discrimination\racism from an award
winning international airline.
Below are two e-mails the first is
showing the warning by the UAE
Ministry of Labour posted in one of
the main local newspapers and the
second e-mail is the e-mail sent by
the Emirates Airlines SVP Human
Resources Business Support
religiously discriminating their
employees.
This action taken by such an
organization does not affect me, but
it is against the international
human rights and against the world
religious discrimination.
