Dear Mr. Jabir,
I went through your website and it was saddening to read that a country
that tries to position itself as a modern nation still has the mentality
of its pirate ancestors. I guess no amount of money, education and
exposure to other cultures can change their attitude towards others. Am
hoping that you and your family don't have to suffer due to your ordeal
any longer.
I am in the process of writing a book about the GCC nations and their
treatment of ,"the temporary workers", (as they call them). As you can
imagine all my research has been via informal means, no one in the
government there wants to answer any question. The private sector is
just as bad. Am hoping that you would be able to offer an insight in to
the maligned world of the GCC national, their labor laws, or lack
thereof.
Am specifically focusing on the following
Discriminatory remuneration structures
Delayed / withheld remuneration
Employers holding the workers passport
Abusive and dangerous practices in the workplace
(Please feel free to add any further information to the list)
The reason I decided to focus on the above, is that these can be used to
take civil action against the offending company in the United States.
Even if the person or the company does not reside / operate in our
territory.
I am looking forward to hearing from you and hopefully we can talk one
of these days
Regards
